Hi Friends and Family!
Wow, we’ve wanted to make this announcement for a long time
– We’re adopting!!
Seriously, we are thrilled! We have planned on adoption
being part of our family story since we were dating.
Here are the answers to some of the questions people have
been asking us and a little about where we stand in our process.
We are hoping for a domestic newborn adoption and open to
any gender or ethnicity. We would prefer an open adoption and are looking
forward to talking with a birth family about their hopes.
We’ve taken many steps to get to this point. We’ve signed on with Christian Adoption
Consultants. We’ve completed our home study.
We’ve completed our family profile, which is essentially a photo book
that prospective birth families will use to help them pick a family. We’ve had
so much help with every step along the way, and we feel very loved and
supported by our friends and family. Thank you!!
Our next step is application – we apply to a number of
adoption agencies to be added to their lists. From there we can be selected by
a family and if all works out, after completing a mountain of paperwork, we
would end up with our baby.
Finances unfortunately play a large part of adoption. We are
looking at this adoption costing between 30-40k, which is basically due upon
placement of a child. We are using our personal savings, applying to grants and
hoping for individual donors. We’ve set up a profile at AdoptTogether so that people
who wish to donate to us could do it in a way that’s actually tax-deductible.
How cool is that!
We have already watched God move to get us to this point.
Diane is going to write it all down one of these days J Thank you for reading, and we’re happy to
answer any more of your questions about our journey.
